Congratulations to fourth-year WSU medical student Joel Bervell for his inclusion in the exclusive Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The 2025 list showcases the achievements and talents of young entrepreneurs, artists, and more in all of North America.
Bervell has a huge social media following where he is known as the “Medical Mythbuster.” His videos educate his more than 1 million followers about racial disparities in medicine.
“Being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list is a powerful reminder of how unconventional platforms like social media can meet patients where they are, reshape medicine, and spark change,” Bervell said. “By breaking barriers to medical information and highlighting health equity, this recognition proves the impact of thinking beyond the traditional. I’m endlessly grateful to the mentors and communities at Washington State University who have helped shape this mission.”
Bervell’s work has earned him a number of additional recognitions, including a TikTok Change Maker Award, a TED Fellow appointment and other influencer positions and published commentary, and invitations to appear on national media programs like the Today Show and the Kelly Clarkson Show.
In addition to his outreach work, Bervell is currently completing his fourth year of medical school and applying to residency programs, the next step in a physician’s medical training.
