WSU VPN Update: Campus-specific Portals to Be Retired

Scenic view of downtown Spokane in autumn, featuring a tree-lined riverfront park with vibrant fall foliage. A red-roofed clock tower stands near the river, with bridges and walking paths crossing the water. City buildings and a large tent-like structure are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Washington State University’s virtual private network (VPN) GlobalProtect will be updated on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. During this time, the VPN may be unavailable for up to one hour.

What’s Changing?

Starting December 18, campus-specific VPN portals will be retired:

All users will now connect through one unified portal: vpn.wsu.edu.

What You Need To Do

After the update:

  1. When connecting to VPN, enter vpn.wsu.edu as the portal address.
  2. Click connect and sign in using your WSU credentials.

If you try to use one of the old campus portals after December 18, the connection will fail.

WSU provides VPN access to departments and individuals who require secure remote connectivity to restricted university systems and data. VPN is required to access some resources while off campus.
