Amid an online craze for maximizing your protein intake, and Director of Graduate Dietetics April Davis, PhD, MS, RDN, ACSM-CEP, spoke with Reporting Texas about whether most of us need more protein or should direct our attention elsewhere.
“We have overwhelming evidence that the average American adult meets or exceeds recommended protein intake,” Davis told the publication. “By focusing so heavily on protein, people are missing out on whole foods with nutrients that help the body combat disease.”
Davis is an associate professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine’s Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.
