Obstetrics and Gynecology

A Welcome From the Vice Chair

Thank you for your interest in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, we welcome you.

We are dedicated to academic excellence in the education of medical students, as reflected in a competency-based curriculum that is designed to provide our all students with comprehensive knowledge and outstanding skills in OB/GYN. Our approach to medical education is collaborative and creative. We are actively working toward more inclusion, diversity, and equity in sexual and reproductive healthcare. We strive to positively impact rural and underserved communities in Washington state through service, advocacy, and research efforts. Our students’ research ideas and clinical efforts are closely mentored and nurtured. We aim to train the next generation of physicians to be outstanding clinicians, surgeons, researchers, teachers, advocates, and leaders. Our graduates move on to match at high-ranking OB/GYN residencies. We are very proud of our educational program and welcome inquiries in our commitment to growing and evolving in our approach to Obstetrics and Gynecology education.

It’s rejuvenating to see medical students who are interested in my field, and helps re-energize me. I’m a firm believer that we need to pay one forward because we were once the recipients of teaching from those before us.
