Washington State University will no longer support phone-based multi-factor authentication (MFA) — SMS (text messaging) and voice call — effective March 25. Starting at 8 a.m. on that date, WSU accounts that rely solely on SMS and voice call authentication for MFA will be locked.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Log in to account.wsu.edu.
- Select the “Security methods” tab.
- Set up at least one of the following security methods:
- OKTA Verify Mobile App (Instructions)
- OKTA FastPass Desktop App (Instructions)
- Google Authenticator (Instructions)

- The MedTech team recommends setting up two separate security methods in case your primary device becomes inaccessible.
