Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Vice Chair for Internal Medicine and Associate Professor of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences Lonika Sood, MBBS, MHPE, FACP, will help shape medical education in the U.S. and beyond through appointments to key editorial boards in medical education.
Dr. Sood has been appointed an associate editor of MedEdPORTAL, an open access journal published by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) that shares health professions teaching and learning resources for an international audience of educators.
“MedEdPORTAL publications have been instrumental for me and many educators to supplement our curricula at a new medical school,” Dr. Sood said. “I am impressed with the quality and level of innovation of materials that have been published.”
Dr. Sood will also serve as deputy editor of Teaching and Learning in Medicine, an international journal for scholarship on teaching and learning in medicine and the health professions.
In addition to her journal editorial board appointments, Dr. Sood will bring her expertise and insight to the Aquifer Internal Medicine Course Board as an associate editor. Aquifer is a national nonprofit organization that provides learning resources designed to strengthen clinical reasoning and patient care skills among medical and health sciences students.
Through these leadership roles, Dr. Sood will move the field of medical education forward by influencing curriculum development through scholarly contributions and the dissemination of innovative teaching practices. She is particularly looking forward to impacting fast-growing initiatives to make medicine more accessible and welcoming to all.
