Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology

Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (BS NEP) program learn to use nutrition and exercise as a form of medicine, and as a wellness practice, when working with patients and clients. Once admitted to the BS NEP, students choose between the Applied Exercise Track and the Community and Population Health Track.

Who You Are

With either track, students are eligible to take the Exercise Physiologist certification exam offered by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The degree also provides foundational coursework for application to graduate school in areas such as dietetics, medicine, physician’s assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and public health.

The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and The Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology prepares students for the Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) credential and specialty certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). ACSM EP-Cs are fitness professionals with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an exercise science program and are qualified to pursue a career in university, corporate, commercial, hospital, and community settings. They are exercise trainers able to conduct complete physical assessments and interpret results to prescribe appropriate, personalized exercise programs.
