Admissions

Requirements

Eligible applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (BS NEP) program must have:

  • WSU University Common Requirements (UCORE) or equivalent general education complete.
  • BS NEP prerequisite courses complete.
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.7.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 in prerequisite courses.
  • No grade lower than a C in any individual prerequisite course. (C- is not accepted).

Prerequisites

The following prerequisite courses are required.

  • General Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • General Biology
  • Microbiology
  • Human Anatomy
  • Human Physiology
  • Human Nutrition
  • Psychology
  • Statistics

Generally, all prerequisite course work should be no more than seven years old at the time of application. Worksheets showing equivalent courses at a variety of community colleges and universities are available by contacting our Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu.

Timeline

The BS NEP program starts in the fall semester only.

  • January 31 – Priority deadline for application submission.
  • February–April – Applications reviewed.
  • February 15–April 30 – Offers of admission sent by email to fill the class of 30 students.
  • May 1–July 31 – Additional applications reviewed on a rolling basis if space remains in the class.

How to Apply

Transfer Students

  1. Before applying, contact the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu if you have questions about the program or would like to verify that you have completed course prerequisites.
  2. Apply to WSU as a transfer student by the January 31 priority deadline for the BS NEP program. Mark Spokane as your intended campus.
  3. If you apply before your Fall semester or quarter grades are posted, please email the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu an unofficial PDF copy of your transcript showing Fall grades once posted.
  4. Email the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu within two weeks of receiving an offer of admission to confirm your intent to enroll.
Apply to WSU

Current WSU Students 

  1. For students at the Pullman campus, contact the Pre-NEP Specialist via the Health Professions Student Center to plan to complete UCORE and BS NEP prerequisite courses in Pullman before transitioning to the Spokane campus.
  2. For students at any WSU campus, contact the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu for questions about the program before applying.
  3. When you are ready to transition to the Spokane campus, contact the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu to request a review of transcripts. This review serves as your application to the BS NEP program. Submit your request during the Spring semester before your intended Fall start. The priority deadline is January 31.
  4. Email the NEP Academic Coordinator at nep@wsu.edu within two weeks of receiving an offer of admission to confirm your intent to enroll.
