Office of Educational Affairs

The Office of Educational Affairs (OEA) provides necessary support and coordination across several offices and units dedicated to our educational initiatives.

The office encompasses educational programming for the MD program and the Virtual Clinical Center, ensuring excellence and equitable access to educational opportunities that prepare graduates to succeed as physicians.

Assessment

The Assessment unit monitors medical student progress toward meeting annual milestones and core competencies, responds to student feedback concerning assessment structure and process, and ensures alignment between instruction and assessment within the MD program curriculum.

Evaluation

The Evaluation unit monitors and improves how well the MD program curriculum meets its educational objectives to ensure students acquire the necessary competencies to succeed as physicians.

Curriculum Management

The Curriculum Management unit provides strategic leadership for the MD program curriculum and serves as a central authority for all curriculum stakeholders.

Learning Experience and Design

We oversee the Learning Experience and Design unit, which assists with educational technology, instructional design, digital learning materials, and more to support the MD program’s digital curriculum.

Regional Medical Campuses

The regional deans report to the Vice Dean for Educational and Faculty Affairs, who ensures alignment of academic and clinical educational opportunities across regional medical campuses and the main campus in Spokane.

Virtual Clinical Center

We provide oversight and support for the Virtual Clinical Center, which coordinates simulation-based training and assessment for our undergraduate and graduate medical education programs, community partners, and other programs.
