Thank you for your interest in Surgery within the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences at Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. On behalf of our committed faculty, dedicated staff, and vibrant student community, we extend a warm welcome to you.

Although commitment lies in achieving academic excellence in the surgical instruction of medical students, our department also focuses on faculty through faculty development programs, continuing medical education, and community-based research.

With regards to our MD program, our competency-based curriculum is crafted to equip all our students with comprehensive knowledge and exceptional skills. In our collaborative and creative approach to medical education, we are actively dedicated to advancing inclusiveness, diversity, and equity across all facets of our initiatives. Our endeavor is to make a positive difference in rural and underserved communities in Washington state through dedicated service, advocacy, and research initiatives. We offer hands-on guidance and encouragement for our students’ research initiatives and clinical pursuits, ensuring they receive mentorship and support.

Our objective is to shape the future generation of physicians into exceptional clinicians, surgeons, researchers, educators, advocates, and leaders. Graduates from our program consistently secure placements in top-tier residencies.
