1.0 Policy Statement

It is the policy of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine to follow the Washington State University policy that prohibits discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct found in Washington State University Executive Policy #15 “Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment.” 

2.0 Definitions 

Discrimination

Washington State University (WSU) defines discrimination, identifies characteristics or traits that are protected from discrimination, and defines prohibited conduct in Executive 15. 

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) defines discrimination as behaviors that show disrespect for the dignity of others based solely on race, religion, ethnicity, sex, physical disability, age, gender identity or sexual orientation.

Protection from Retaliation

No person will be subjected to retaliation, as defined in Executive Policy 15, for purposes of interfering with any right or privilege secured by Executive Policy 15, or because the individual has made a report or complaint, testified, assisted, or participated or refused to participate in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing under the policy.
