Kimberly Honn Elected President of the Working Time Society

Kimberly Honn

Kimberly Honn, PhD, an associate professor in the department of translational medicine and physiology, has been elected president of the Working Time Society. The international association is focused on research and practice of the psychosocial and health problems connected with working hours and shift work.

At the WSU College of Medicine, Honn’s research focuses on the effects of sleep loss and shift work schedules on cognitive performance, safety, and health. In the Sleep and Performance Research Center laboratory, she uses specially designed computerized tests to identify particular cognitive functions that are most vulnerable or most resilient to the effects of sleep deprivation.

In 2019, Honn and Hans Van Dongen, PhD, professor and director of the Sleep and Performance Research Center, co-chaired the International Symposium on Shiftwork and Working Time, the bi-annual meeting of the Working Time Society (WTS), in Coeur d’Alene. In 2021, Honn was elected to serve on the WTS Board of Directors.

Honn will now serve a three-year term as president. This is a major career highlight and Honn says she is looking forward to taking on the leadership role in the society.
