The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and other health sciences colleges will welcome future health care leaders to campus this week with a bevy of orientation activities and events before classes begin on August 24.
All students are welcome to participate in WSU Spokane Week of Welcome activities. The festivities begin Aug. 19 with campus orientation and free food, and continue through September with the All Campus Picnic and Involvement Fair.
New students in the WSU College of Medicine’s Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (NEP), Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS), and Doctor of Medicine programs will also participate in program-specific orientation activities.
New NEP and SHS students will attend orientation on Aug. 19 to get to know each other and learn about resources that will set them up for success on their path to becoming future dietitians, speech-language pathologists, and other health professionals.
Incoming medical students will complete a week-long orientation, which includes receiving the iPads and stethoscopes that will serve as essential tools during their four years of training. Both are made possible by the generous support of college donors.
The MD Class of 2030 will conclude their week with a White Coat Ceremony at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, signifying the beginning of their journey from students to physicians.
