Student getting their white coat put on.

Join us as we welcome our MD Class of 2030 to the medical community!

The White Coat Ceremony signifies the beginning of a student doctor’s journey as a medical professional. When the white coat is placed on their shoulders, they are committing to prioritize compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care from the very first day.

Celebrate this milestone as our students transition to physician leaders, joining us in-person at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox or virtually on our livestream.

Henry Mroch.

Henry Mroch, MD, FACP, FASN

Professor of Medicine

Henry Mroch, MD, is among the founding faculty members of the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. He was involved in the early development of the Renal-Urinary Systems course for pre-clinical medical students, which he still teaches alongside third- and fourth-year students during clinical rotations. He is a member of the Admissions Committee and has served in Clinical Coaching. Dr. Mroch earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and MD degree with Honors from the University of California, Irvine, completed his residency at Providence Internal Medicine Spokane, and completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Washington. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Having practiced medicine in Spokane and Eastern Washington since 1998, he developed a deep awareness of the statewide physician workforce shortage and the unmet healthcare needs in rural, Tribal, and underserved communities throughout Washington. Caring for patients and advancing medical education remain the cornerstones of his professional career.

Program Statement

The white coat worn by physicians symbolizes earned knowledge, caring, and dedication to service. Patients must see the person in the coat: a compassionate person committed to their well-being, not a distant authority. The White Coat Ceremony welcomes you into our medical family, reminding us that our greatest strength lies in the connections we make with those we serve and in our support for each other.
