Inpatient Night Shift: In House
1 Night per Inpatient Week
Stays in-house to experience night medicine. Responds to patient care needs for inpatients, provides consultations for patients in the Emergency Department, and accepts admissions from the Emergency Department.
- PGY1: 1 night per month, 12 nights per year
- PGY2: 1 night per quarter, 4 nights per year
- PGY3: 1 night per month, 12 nights per year
OB/Newborn Call/Peds Call: At Home
4 Nights per OB/NB Week
Responds to active labor admissions, unplanned c-sections (assisting), labor checks, pediatric
admissions, emergency department evaluation of possible pediatric admissions.
- PGY1: 4 nights per quarter 16 nights per year
- PGY2: 4 nights per quarter 16 nights per year
- PGY3: BY ELECTIVE ONLY
Hospital Admissions Call: At Home
2 Nights per Mini Block/Longitudinal Week
Responds to admissions, change in patient status, patients who leave AMA, and continuity clinic after-hour phone calls.
- PGY1: About 4 nights per month, 32–40 nights per year
- PGY2: About 4–6 nights per month, 40–56 nights per year
- PGY3: About 2 nights per month, About 20 nights per year
